Welcome to the website of the Delano Optimist Club of Bakersfield College. We have been in service to youth since 2006, and we are an independent club within the Pacific Southwest District (PSWD) of Optimist International (OI), serving the Optimist mission of "Bringing Out The Best In Kids."

Our club, made up of college students at the Delano Campus of Bakersfield College, has conducted many service projects in Delano as well as the broader geographic area of the PSWD. We have volunteered each year at the Cancer Camp for Kids in Porterville; we have conducted Oratorical Contests at Morningside Elementary School in Delano; we have conducted food drives and Christmas Gift collections for the needy of our community, and most recently we have honored our Security Officers in the OI Respect For Law Program. 

Additionally, along with the Renegade Optimist Club of BC and the West Bakersfield Optimist Club, we are currently planning  the 1st Annual "Camp We Can," for the boys of the Unicorn Garden Home for Boys in Bakersfield. The Camp is planned for Friday and Saturday July 30 and 31 at Camp Okihi in Bakersfield.

Our President is Mary Torres and our Faculty Advisor is Dr. T G Thomas and we would welcome any type of community support in our efforts to "Bring Out The Best In Kids." 

Childhood Wellness Campaign Launches!

The Childhood Wellness Campaign is focused on providing a means to prevention of diseases stemming from childhood obesity, to include, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiovascular Diseases, Asthma, Childhood Cancer, and others.
